Last Saturday, October 3, the Autonomous Artistic Gymnastics Championship was held in the city of Castellón, behind closed doors and with all anticovid measures.
El Montgó sports club-Xàbia competed with 5 gymnasts, all achieving very good results. In Base 1, the smallest of the comxicotetion, the sisters Estrella and María Gámez and Paula Martín. Estrella was first in jumping, second in asymmetric and ground and fourth in balance beam.
For her part, Paula took the gold in asymmetric and María was first on the ground. With these results, competing against 32 gymnasts, the three Montgó-Xàbia gymnasts managed to be at the top, being Estrella the regional champion, Paula runner-up and María third.
At Base 2 level, the club participated with Lola Mathews, who also became regional champion, competing against 20 gymnasts. Mathews managed to be third in jump, second in asymmetric and first in floor and bar.
The veteran of the group, Liliana Penge, who competed in base 3, in a group of 34 girls, did not manage to get on the podium, but was placed in 3 of the 4 devices among the 6 best. With these results, all the girls are classified for the national.
From the club they congratulate the girls and their coaches, Judith Garcia-Tenorio, Rimma Khairulina, Anouk Horenbeeck, Yamil Castañeyra and Alejandro Castañeyra, and wish the boys of gam good luck, who will compete in the provincial and regional, next Saturday, in Valencia.
