Filà Trabuquers

13 July 2023 - 19: 10

The Christian Filà Trabuquers was born in 1980, being the first to be founded on the side of the cross. The idea came from Jaime Martín-Villalba, who, motivated by the existence of a Filà Mora, Jalufos, summoned a group of young people from Duanes de la Mar, to whom he raised the foundation of the filà and guided their steps in its origins.

History

The idea of forming a Christian filà came to accompany the only filà created, the Moorish filà Jalufos, since it must be taken into account that in 1980, the feast of Moors and Christians, as we know it today, did not exist in Xàbia. Thus, and following the reference of the Filà Jalufos It had been founded a couple of years before and those who had participated in the horse carriage rides in Sant Joan, decided to create a Christian filà to accompany it, being in its beginnings around 12 people who made up the first squad.

This year (1980) was the first in which the Filà Trabuquers joins the parade of the festivities parade in honor of the Virgin of Loreto at Aduanas del Mar.

Jaime Martin-Villalba, promoter of the Filà Trabuquers, had the support of Vicente Miralles, Federico David and Esteban Salines among others.

In their first years of life they developed a great activity, participating in the Patron Saint Festivities of Ondara, invited by a Christian Filà of this population, in those of Jalón and in the Cabalgata del Reino in Valencia.

In 1981, they created a squad made up of nine women, something anecdotal, since, in other places decades later, there was still discussion about whether women were full members or not.

Another peculiarity of this filà is that, in 1983, to compensate for the number of Moorish and Christian formations, components of the Filà Trabuquers, they separated and formed the Filà BallestersThis being an act of generosity with the party to continue growing.

Name

The history of the name Trabuquers It is given because its members sought a significant name for the party "and what better than Blunderbuss, the weapon that gives color to our parties with gunpowder shots ", indicate members of the Filà.

Banner

Among the history of the origin of this filà stands out the first act that it had, the choice of its godparents, José Cano and Raquel Serrat, who gave them the banner that has preceded Trabuquers in all his performances. The banner, designed by Jaime Martín-Villalba, has as its main element the 'rata penada' (bat), a symbol deeply rooted in Valencian culture, holding the blunderbuss in one leg in reference to the name and the wine boot, an element widely used in the gatherings of friends at that time. The banner is hand embroidered and was blessed by the then parish priest of Duanes de la Mar, D. Juan Celda.

Kabila

For approximately 25 years, the Kábila de la Filà Trabuquers has been located at 22 Loreto street, owned by José Serrat (Tomaca), a member of the Filà, which has been ceded free of charge ever since. During all this time, the Christian formation has invested in adapting the premises to adapt it to their needs (kitchen, bathroom, ...)

Feature: Christian Knight

Within the Christian side, there is a lot of diversity. Trabuquers It is characterized by the Christian gentleman. Since its inception, the squads of this filà have paraded with gala suits made up of armor and a helmet. And although each year they change, they always look for a costume that will make the event showy.

As for the daily dress, the clothing consists of a blue and orange jacket, colors that have accompanied them for about 30 years, and is accompanied by a black belt with the coat of arms of the filà, although in its origins, the color main was silver.

Party charges: Standard bearers and captains

Without a doubt, one of the oldest members of Filà is Fernando Piles, although due to his young age (13 years old) when it was created, he is not among the founders, but he has always been present. In fact, Piles, at 16 years old, that is, in 1983, dared to make the first embassy with a precarious PA system at the time, which consisted of a speaker connected by cable to a microphone.

Fernando with the remembered Pepe Xiulit and later, Pepe Santana (Sultan of the Fontana!), have been the couple that has repeated this act the most times, as ambassadors. Thus, Fernando Piles, is considered as one of the parents of this party.

captainships

Since its foundation, the Filà Trabuquers has held a total of four captaincies represented by the members of the filà.

1990: José Serrat Perez. This captaincy, the first of the filà, is characterized because its captain paraded with a float made entirely by the filà itself.

In addition, for this occasion, a group of women, known from the components of the Trabuquers created the Filà Marineres to carry out the captaincy.

This Filà is a founding member of the Central Board of Moors and Christians, who participated in the creation of the statutes. In these, it was established that there was a numerical equality of ranks on both sides (Moro and Cristiano), and therefore when new ranks were registered, the then members of the Trabuquers gathered together and decided to split and thus form a new Christian Filà: The Ballesters.

During these years, several members of Filà have been at the head of the Central Board promoting the consolidation of the festivals and the good organization of each of the events.
