History

La Filà Schaitans It was founded in Xàbia in September of 1999 by a group of young people who were part of the Filà Jalufos. With the purpose of making the festivities bigger and helping their growth and evolution, in the festivities of the year 2000, this filà began to participate independently, forming part of the Moors and Christians Festival of Xàbia.

Members

In its first year, the Filà was made up of a total of 14 members, all men, and currently, more than 20 years after its creation, it is made up of around 30 people, including adults and children. Thus, its evolution has been significant. In 2001, barely a year after its creation, two squads paraded, a men's squad and a women's squad, although in 2002, they came out again with only a men's squad.

In 2003 and after three years of parade as filà mora, Schaitans began to parade with children and they established a mixed squad as the norm of the Filà.

Origin of the name Schaitans

The name that hosts this Filà is 'Schaitans'. Coming from Shaitan, an Arabic word that means 'Satan' or demon, the members slightly modify their writing but keep their meaning, hence, the image of the devil appears on its emblem.

But the history of its name comes from not confusing the citizens. His first choice of name for Filà was Berbers, a tribe from North Africa, but as it was similar to the filà, the founded 'Almoriscos' opted to look for another Arabic name, staying with 'Schaitans'.
