The Xàbia Department of Fiestas together with the Fogueres Commission is committed to keeping alive the tradition of the town and the illusion of its protagonists.
On the one hand, before the proposal of the popular spokesperson, Rosa Cardona, to make a special detail (band, sashes, book...) to the fifths (leaders of the Fogueres de Sant Joan) of 2020 for not being able to celebrate, at the time, the festivities and events due to the pandemic.
La councilman Festival, Kika Mata, indicated that the Commission has been and is working so that they do not lose hope, "We are studying different alternatives so that both those of last year and those of this next participate as usual and have their parties and of course, they will have a memory, although we are going to try, in some way, that their parties are celebrated because I do not know how stop losing the history of a fifth or a year of Fogueres ".
Mata commented in plenary session that facing the Three Kings Work is being done to be able to carry it out, whenever it is allowed, even if it is in a smaller format or with another alternative, without involving crowds but in which the little ones can experience the arrival of SS.MM The Three Kings of the East.
In the same way, and awaiting the evolution of the pandemic, the Festival Committee maintains the hope that the fifths of 2021 can start the celebration of some of the events of their year, such as the election of positions, even if it is in the first months of next year and in a reduced format.
The mayor said that the council and the Commission have not thrown in the towel in the face of the situation we live in and work has been done, in the case of the events of the imminent Christmas holidays, so that everything is ready if it is allowed to celebrate keeping all the security and sanitary measures.
