Xàbia discovers the painter and poet Lucebert through a simultaneous exhibition of his works in the municipal exhibition halls. The Casa del Cable, Ca Lambert and the Soler Blasco Museum will host the monographic exhibition, promoted by the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (IVAM), about this renowned Dutch artist who in the 70 years settled in the region and who in this 2019 the 25º anniversary of his death is commemorated.

The opening will be on Friday, 1 in February, at 12 hours. Under the title, Everything valuable is defenseless, the tour will start in the Casa del Cable and from that moment, his works, both paintings, drawings, ceramics, poems and serial work, can be seen in the three rooms until May 5.

The exhibition includes works dated between 1957 and 1994, offering a global vision of the creative activity of the author who from 1970 lived between Bergen, Holland and Xàbia. In addition, and coinciding with the exhibition, the Lucebert film, Tijd en Afscheid, directed by Johan van der Keuken at 1994, will be screened in the museum's auditorium, showing all the artist's artistic facets, in a sort of retrospective that also includes Lucebert reading his poems.

The project includes the co-production of a catalog between the IVAM and the Javea Town Hall, which reproduces all the works on display as well as texts by the specialist and curator of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Ad Petersen and the curator of the exhibition, Teresa Millet.

Councilor for Culture Xàbia, Quico Moragues, has encouraged all art lovers to visit this exhibition and wanted to thank the IVAM having chosen Xàbia to open the activities of its 30 anniversary. Moragues has highlighted the involvement in this exhibition of Teresa Millet and Sergio Rubira, deputy director of Collection and Exhibitions of the IVAM.

Lucebert (1924 -1994) is the pseudonym of Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk, a Dutch poet and painter who, in the 70 years, built a studio house on the road from Xàbia to Benitatxell. The generous deposit that the widow of the artist, Tony Lucebert Swaanswijk, made in 2003 to the IVAM has been fundamental for the organization of this exhibition that is entitled "alles van waarde is weerloos" (everything valuable is defenseless), a fragment of one of the poems of the Dutch artist that has become a very used expression in the Netherlands and that has been labeled in neon and installed in the Blaak square of the city of Rotterdam from 1978.
