The IB ISABEL BILBAO Art Gallery will host from May 7 to June 8 the exhibition 'La Caja Escénica' by the Valencian artist, Federico Romaguera. The inauguration will be on Friday, May 7, from 18:20 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. with controlled capacity.
The sample, according to Romaguera, is a collection of three-dimensional, in which each image is drawn, colored, cut out and placed to achieve an effect within this scenic box containing dreams and dramas.
The artist has a predilection for works in different planes - without forgetting that he is an excellent portrait painter on canvas - and very much in keeping with his facet as a creator of fantastic scenographies and papier-mache characters.
In 'La Caja Escénica' he offers a patient and meticulous work carried out in the last three years with the intention of captivating popular characters and unique environments in these one-size 35x28 cm scenographies. The materials he uses are cardboard cut out and painted with colored acrylics, Chinese ink or black pencil, and sometimes he ends up with glitter, lacquers or metallic papers "with which everything has a clear Pop influence," says the artist.
Regarding the works, Federico Romaguera indicates that "he catches images inspired sometimes by Goya's 'Caprichos' or 'Desastres de la Guerra', other times in silent film scenes, film noir or the American musical and I enclose them hermetically in a stage box adding different theatrical elements: backdrops, curtains, racks ... All of them are arranged at different distances from each other, also creating false perspectives.
