08 2019 April - 00: 14

The power of the athletes of Xàbia was demonstrated, once again, in the Volta a Peu in Dénia, won by Moha Rida Younes, from Llebeig Athletics Club Xàbia. This athlete, along with his club mate, José Manuel García Barragán and Youssef Ahatach, xabiero that defends the colors of Dénia Corre, were the best during the race.

The athlete, Moha Rida, revalidated his triumph in the Volta a Peu in Dénia. As in the previous edition, this fabulous athlete had the honor of enjoying solo collecting the applause of the large public located on the finish line. Upon his arrival, a tremendous ovation sounded for all those in Marqués de Campo Street who were located.

Highlight the large number of athletes, around 1.500, who were not afraid of rain. Just 20 minutes before the start, a tremendous rain fell. After a few minutes of a lot of water, everything stopped and calm arrived so that runners could run without problem.

At the start, a small group was formed with the three main protagonists of the race: Moha Rida, José Manuel García, both from Llebeig Xàbia and Youssef Ahatach, from Dénia Corre. A few meters behind Adrián Hadri was trying to connect with the head, which failed. Behind was another great persecuting group formed by the group of CA Gandia athletes, who set the pace.

The leading trio kept sending until in their last change with a few 800 meters, Moha Rida Younes managed to go ahead and enter the finish line with a time of 32: 17, improved mark in more than a minute compared to the one he made in the 2018 edition. The second to cross the finish line was Youssef Ahatach, with a mark of 32: 29. The third place went to José Manuel García Barragán with a record of 32: 53.

In women the surprise jumped, Mª Isabel Ferrer He took the exit but his feelings were not good so he chose to retire having physical problems. Andrea Abad, of the CA Publidom was the dominator of the race, getting to be the first in the line of arrival with a record of 38: 36. The second place was for his teammate, Maxine McKinnon, who made a time of 39: 19 and the third was for Marta Ortego, Dénia Corre, who made a mark of 40: 21.

It is worth noting the great organization carried out by the Athletics Club Baleària Diànium, that in spite of the difficulties that the rain supposed, managed that everything went out to the perfection. The public that with the rays of sun returned to the street to give the heat to the runners.

Also note that many athletes recalled the absence of one of the most veteran women who has played many popular races throughout the region, Henriette Weeber, who recently died in Benidorm. Surely from the sky he keeps running with all his friends. Major loss for athletics
popular, rest in peace.
