There is increasing awareness of the need to protect the planet and our environment. And more and more people are joining the movement to keep the beaches clean. This Saturday, September 21, the Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell will carry out the traditional coastal and underwater cleaning day, after it was postponed due to bad weather and this year it is expanding its scope and adding Moraig and Llebeig to Cala dels Testos as well.

As every year, volunteers will clean the Cala dels Testos. On this occasion, in addition, the diving company La Galera de Moraira and the Institution of Oceanographic Research of Xàbia (IROX) will be in charge of underwater cleaning in Cala del Moraig, and the owners of the fishermen's houses and the rescue company SVS will also join this initiative.

The day will start at 9: 30 hours in the Tallat parking lot. From there, the necessary instructions will be given - it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen and water - and the groups will be organized. In addition, the Department of Environment and Landscape, in charge of Jorge Pascual, will give each of the volunteers a small detail. These are sun protection caps that have the slogan printed on “Som of net and alive cove ”.

This initiative has been carried out for several years after the summer season, which is when more garbage accumulates on the beaches. And it is that, especially the last summers, the influx to the coves of the municipality has increased notably. And, with it, the incivism of some users.

“Our coves are a great natural treasure. If we want to continue enjoying them, they must be kept clean. It is everyone's business ”, said the Councilor for the Environment. Pascual has also taken the opportunity to invite all the pobleros to join the day, "The more people become aware of the importance of taking care of the environment, the cleaner our sea will be."
