CEIP Santa María Magdalena school children celebrated last Friday, March 6, Arbor Day with a fun morning of games. Students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Primary traveled to a green area of Les Fonts to replant about 200 pines and carob trees. They were accompanied by the Councilor for Education and Environment, Jorge Pascual, who stressed that "It is important that they know that if they want to give long life to the planet they must start by knowing and taking care of nature."
Before, however, they had fun with a didactic yincana in which boys and girls learned the importance of caring for the environment. Organized in various teams, they had to pass a series of tests. Among them, one that consisted of knowing the ecosystems, both terrestrial and marine, and detecting residues (mainly plastic) that did not belong to them.
In addition, the children of the school also enjoyed a few days before a clay ball workshop. This method consists of mixing seeds inside clay balls of different sizes, which are then spread across the field without the need to bury them. The balls fall apart with the rain and the seeds begin to sprout.
