The international master, Eric Sos Andreu, young international master of the Paterna Chess Club was the absolute winner of the XXIX Chess Tournament Villa de Xàbia. The winner achieved a total score of 6,5 possible 7 points in a comxicotetion that featured 11 players titled between Great Masters, International Masters and Master of the Fide being all of different nationalities.
The comxicotetion was developed on a sunny day that allowed many fans of this sport to congregate in the tent where the games were played. In this edition were 90 the players who sat before the boards between the participants in the absolute and in the school.
The punctuality at the beginning of the tournament caused more than one of the players to lose the first game when arriving late. The speed of the referees Ana Pastor, Antoni Bertomeu And Francisco Morató made the rounds pass quickly. Point out the great predisposition of all players to behave correctly throughout the tournament and where there was no negative to highlight.
The Escolar tournament was again a success in terms of the participation of children as they were 38 participants, some of the high level players like Guillermo Lagunas, belonging to (Parquesur-Albacete), Abel Sempere (Alcoy), Miquel Asins (Massanassa Escacs 90), Óscar Notario (La Vila) and Víctor Tudela (Alcoy). All of them made the delights of the present putting all their effort in doing the best possible.
To highlight the high level of the participants of Xàbia, thanks in part to the Javea Town Hall Which launched, seven years ago, an educational project where chess is taught in the classrooms of all schools in that locality during school hours. A project that is thought to give continuity for this next course due to the great acceptance of all.
During the tournament was attended by the president of the Commission of festivals of the Virgin of Loreto, Juan José García, The councilor of sports, Vicent Colomer, The vice president of the Valencian Chess Federation, Luis Barona and José Francisco Erades, the promoter of many of the local sports and cultural activities. They were in charge at the end of the tournament to deliver the deserved prizes to the best players in each of the categories.
They all agreed to thank the participants for their efforts, congratulated the players, referees, tournament organizers and collaborators and encouraged them to continue attending this event in future editions. A commemorative plaque was also presented to Francisco Morató Tent for the years of dedication to the promotion of this sport in the locality.
It meant the enormous effort of the referee team who were attentive so that everything went perfectly. The Xàbia Chess Club thanked all the people who provided food for Caritas of the Church of the port, a lot of solidarity and committed people.
