«En Racha», by Ignacio Estaregui, wins the Riurau Film Festival in its tenth edition

Last Saturday the tenth edition of the Riurau Film Festival came to an end. This closing took place in Xàbia, where the awards gala was held, attended by participants, people from the world of Seventh Art and authorities from the Marina Alta.

In this edition the winner was the director Ignacio Estaregui with his work In streak. And not from one, but from two Bancalets awards: the Villa de Xàbia Best Fiction Short Film and the Best Social Fiction Film.

The new trophy of the festival, El Bancalet, is made in the Pedra Navas de Pedreguer Workshop and represents the cultivation terraces so present in the region next to the riurau, building that gives the festival its name.

The award for Best Fiction Film in Valencià / Català was obtained the Banyera by Sergi Martí i Matas. On the other hand, the award for Best Dance Film was won The Roomby Laida Aldaz. The award for Best LGTBIQ + Fiction Short Film went to the film Before the Eruption by Roberto Pérez Toledo, being the photographer José María Hortelano who made a portrait of this very special director whom he has followed and admired for a long time.

The award for Best Short Film on the Environment and the Sea was awarded to the Asturian director David Rodríguez Muñiz for his documentary Beyond the Glacier on the disappearance of glaciers and the inland seas of Central Asia.

The celebration was also used to pay tribute to the figure of Ramón Cardona, who was involved in the organization of the festival from the beginning and directed the festival for six years with the collaboration he established with Movibeta, started the web, promoted the delivery of trophies and also established the bridges with the Generalitat, the producers and distributors and had a clear vision: to make the RRFF grow and improve every year. For this reason, a video was screened with the best moments of the Riurau Film Festival during the last decade and its prequel Ves de Curts from 2011 and then another with the most distinguished short films from the Escola de Cinema de Xàbia and Dénia.
