Historical day in Xàbia. This Monday, September 13, 2021, the works of the long-awaited municipal indoor swimming pool have been formally started. An infrastructure long demanded by the population and that will improve the sports facilities in the town.
The operators have begun to install the fencing and little by little the machines will arrive to begin with what will be the first phase of the work: the excavation of the vessels and the foundation of the building; an existing wall will also be demolished.
Mayor, José ChulviAnd the Councilor for Sports, Alberto Tur, have held a meeting this morning with the person in charge of the work, who has explained the planned planning. The sports complex is located next to the municipal sports pavilion: between M. Bordes Valls, Joan Fuster and Vicent A. Estellés streets, roads that will not suffer traffic restrictions during the work. Yes, the parking in the fronts of what will be the pool will be affected by the installation of the work booths and stockpiling of necessary materials, something that is already marked.
The construction of this long-awaited project is carried out by the company Contratas Vilor, which was awarded the work for 4.679.118,40 euros (VAT included) and a completion period of 26 months. It has a grant from the Generalitat Valenciana of 3 million euros.
At the design level, the pool follows a project by the Raíz de3 studio defined as “simple and pragmatic”. It will have two swimming pools, one for comxicotetion and adult activities and another for heating and children's activities, four changing rooms (2 of them adapted), located on the ground floor, a bleacher and rooms for directed activities, located on the first floor. It will be approved to hold provincial comxicotetions and will be the first swimming pool in Spain with BREAM certification for environmental sustainability.

He has especially mentioned what the change in the autonomous government meant, with a team that assumed the "pending debt" left by their predecessors in Xàbia and have worked side by side with the Town hall to make this sports project a reality.
Chulvi stressed that both parties have demonstrated their will and commitment to the pool, taking all the administrative steps and supporting them in the plenary or Council votes that have been necessary. "The political work is fully completed" has exposed the mayor, who hopes that the execution of the work goes as planned - it is a complex work that will last for two years - and the residents of Xàbia can enjoy at the end of their expected pool.
