The PSPV denounces the loss of 900.000 euros of Xàbia due to the blockade of the Provincial Council in the Cooperation Fund

24 October 2020 - 01: 16

The PSPV has issued a statement in which it denounces the loss of almost one million euros in the municipality of Xàbia. "That is what has cost Xàbia the refusal of the Diputación de Alicante to join the Municipal Cooperation Fund of the Valencian Community", indicates the socialist writing.

The PSPV statement explains that the Municipal Cooperation Fund is a financing instrument created by the Valencian government that has distributed 160 million euros since 2017. These funds are transferred directly to the municipalities, without being a finalist. That is, they are not linked to any specific expense, but can be used in whatever is most necessary at all times. His spirit is precisely
offer autonomy to local entities, those closest to citizens and those that most directly influence the quality of life of all the people living in the Valencian Community.

The measure was implemented in 2017 and Xàbia, since then, has been receiving about 225.000 euros each year from the budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana, chaired by Ximo Puig. Now, these same Municipal Cooperation Funds are participated by the Valencia and Castellón councils, which complement the contribution of the Valencian government. In this way, any town in these provinces receives double help.

"But the Diputación de Alicante, governed by the PP, refused from the beginning to participate in said funds. And it has systematically blocked any proposal or initiative in this regard", they manifest from the socialist ranks.

From the PSPV of Xàbia it is reported that “Having turned the Alicante Provincial Council into an opposition office to the Consell costs the xabieros almost a million euros. The PP of the province prefers that the families of Alicante have less equipment, resources and opportunities in order to continue a sterile electoral fight ”.

The PSPV of Xàbia has presented a motion for the Diputación de Alicante to rectify and, in 2021, it joins the Municipal Cooperation Funds. The motion presented to the plenary session indicates that "While the Valencia Provincial Council has put 60 million euros for its towns in 2020, that of Alicante continues to 0. In total Xàbia has stopped charging 900.000 euros that-according to the mayor, José Chulvi- in these moments of economic uncertainty and health and social emergency they would be very important ".

According to the socialist spokesperson, Isabel Bolufer, “They should accept for consistency. You cannot ask that we lower rates and taxes, that we give direct aid, that we establish all kinds of aid plans ... and at the same time that they deny us money that the towns of València and Castelló do have. If you really believe in public service, this is the time to prove it. "
