The Socialist Municipal Group of Xàbia has made public its concern and rejection of the project to install two photovoltaic solar power plants on non-urbanizable land in the municipality, specifically, in the Partida Foradons – Benitzaina.
Councillor Vicent Miralles, together with the spokesperson, José Chulvi, have pointed out that it is a "macro-electrical installation" that will occupy more than 18 hectares, equivalent to 18 football fields, with a considerable visual and landscape impact without providing benefits to the local population.
Chulvi has pointed out that after asking in the last plenary session, the project was presented to the Urban Planning Commission on December 10 and discussed in the Urban Planning Council on December 12, "but there was no prior information about it." Town Hall until we asked, even though there is a report on this project from April 30th.
Incompatibility with environmental regulations
Miralles, for his part, explained that "the affected area is classified as non-urbanizable land and forms part of the Agricultural Impact Buffer Areas of the Montgó Natural Park." According to the PSOE, the proposed installation is not among the compatible uses established in article 107 of the PORN (Montgó Natural Resources Management Plan). In addition, part of the land is classified as a risk zone by the PATRICOVA.
The socialist group highlights the existing contradiction, since many residents of Xàbia are subject to significant restrictions when making modifications to their homes or land due to this regulation, while now a company intends to bypass the same rules with the support of the administration.
Project under discussion
This morning, the Socialists presented a motion for debate at the next municipal plenary session, requesting that the Municipal Corporation take a position against the project. The Socialists stress that they are not against renewable energies, "but it is necessary to balance them with the protection of the natural, landscape and agricultural environment. Green energies must be implemented responsibly, without damaging our most precious values."
The PSOE is also calling on citizens to mobilise and express their rejection of what they consider to be a "high-impact attack" on the territory and an irrecoverable loss of rural and landscape heritage.
Details of solar plants
The two photovoltaic plants will have an installed capacity of 4.800 kilowatts each, as well as an energy storage capacity of 6.000 kW/h for connection to the electricity grid. To this end, the construction of underground medium voltage lines of more than 3 kilometres is planned, which will cross 26 plots and several roads in the municipality until reaching a transformer located in the cemetery area.
According to the project report, the installation involves: 280 solar trackers of 1,80 m height and 16.800 modules fixed on the ground, in addition to storage equipment, transformers and concrete platforms totalling more than 300 square metres of buildings. Night vision cameras and 2,20 metre high fences to protect the perimeter. Additional roads of 90 m² for machinery and vehicles. Impact on the territory and lack of local benefits.
Who promotes and builds that?
An aberration, so we will have to mobilize, we cannot allow a few to turn Jávea into their country estate, enough is enough!!, with the approval and/or complicity of the current local government.
We are back to the old ways, to cement and to the "what's in it for me" as in previous right-wing local governments, of sad memory.
Rosa, you promised to “beautify” Jávea, we didn’t expect it to be more concrete and solar panels!!
That's what happens when you keep believing them.
If I find out that they are doing this aberration on agricultural land, I will build a little house on my agricultural land to live in all year round, and then I will not receive the relevant complaints, there are many shameless people out there.
How much do you want for your agricultural land? Dimension and if you have more.
