The mayoress of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, has responded to the request of the Socialist Municipal Group on the extraordinary plenary session of the municipal swimming pool. A monographic plenary session in which the PSOE requests a clear answer as to why the facility remains closed after almost a year after being received.
The plenary session has been called for this Thursday, January 20, at 10:00 in the morning, but the PSOE has shown its disagreement with this call, accusing the mayor of "fear, cowardice or lack of respect for the residents and the opposition. After 12 days without responding to the request, the mayor has called it at 10 in the morning in an unprecedented gesture of willingness to hide the debate."
The socialists point out that in 2021 "Rosa Cardona herself signed to request an extraordinary plenary session to censure a socialist councilor, and the then mayor, José Chulvi, called the plenary session immediately at 20:00 p.m., as requested by the proposing councilors and to promote maximum participation and transparency."
On the other hand, the PSOE also mentions an extraordinary plenary session in 2009 at the request of the PSOE and Nueva Jávea and the mayor, Eduardo Monfort, summoned him a few days later and in the afternoon, as requested by the applicants.
"This gesture of wanting to hide the plenary session is, therefore, a sign of cowardice and a lack of democratic spirit. That Mrs Cardona does not respect the opposition is something we already knew, but that she does not respect her own people is something new and very sad," the socialists say.
The Socialist Municipal Group accuses the PP that in these days since the request for the plenary session, "the PP government has dedicated itself to showing partial and incomplete reports, to giving false information, to spreading hoaxes and to accusing municipal technicians; all in order to avoid assuming its responsibility and its inability, 20 months after arriving at the mayor's office, to open an infrastructure that is ready to open today, if they had the personnel and the clear management model."
