After 14 years, the Javea Town Hall will take to the next plenary session the approval of the execution project of the municipal indoor pool, drafted by the RAIZDE3 architecture studio and finally amounting to five million euros. This procedure comes after its initial approval in the Planning Commission last Wednesday.
It should also be remembered that the passage through the plenary session next Monday will be the most important step for the realization of the municipal swimming pool since it was first announced at 2005.
New Features
The increase in the bidding budget is based on adjustments in the sports infrastructure needs program, necessary so that the pool can be approved for provincial comxicotetions. From the executive it has been considered important that, once this expected project is undertaken, in addition to its main uses, which will be the practice of swimming and related therapeutic activities, it is also suitable for comxicotetions, thus differentiating itself from other nearby facilities and responding to the more than foreseeable creation of a swimming club or the youth of the municipality who want to compete.
To do this, the two vessels must meet specific technical specifications, such as having a greater depth than initially planned, which makes the retaining walls more resistant. The grandstand must also be larger, so it goes from two to three rows, changing rooms suitable for teams and must have a small cafeteria.
However, the total constructed area goes from 2.000 square meters to 3.017 square meters.
Deadlines
The project, in addition to the tender budget, also marks the execution deadlines, which are calculated in 742 days. The indoor pool is projected next to the 'Miguel Buigues' sports hall (in the space where the paddle tennis courts are currently located), and is set up with two pool glasses and an activity room aimed at gymnastics and physical maintenance. The main pool, 25 meters long by 12,5 wide, will be multi-purpose and the secondary one, 12,5 by 10 meters, dedicated to teaching complementary activities or familiarization with swimming, both for children and adults, and especially to rehabilitative swimming.
Two extraordinary public works are going to be carried out, and they really must be for mass public use, with a common denominator, »without parking possibilities».
