The Poble Nou de Benitatxell begins the procedures to create a protective association for cats

30 July 2020 - 09: 13

The Poble Nou de Benitatxell advances in the work to control the feline colonies of the municipality. Last week, the Councilor for Health, Isa Garrido, members of the Local Police, the local veterinarian Verónica Catalá and various volunteers involved met in the El Puig building to continue coordinating the control of the birth of stray cats and their welfare.

After a first contact last October in which a union was formed to carry out a sterilization campaign, the network of volunteers has expanded and now has collaborators in almost all urbanizations and scattered to help care the existing colonies and to feed the animals in a controlled way.

Thanks to these advances, last week's meeting raised the possibility of officially creating a feline protective association in the municipality. At the moment, the bureaucratic procedures are going to start and in September there will be another meeting to continue working.

The councilor responsible for the area has encouraged people sensitized to animals to join the future association. "Anyone who wants to collaborate is welcome", Garrido has pointed out, who has indicated that they can contact the email igarrido@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.com.
