The Poble Nou of Benitatxell closes the sterilization campaign having intervened 22 cats

23 October 2019 - 09: 37

The campaign for the sterilization of stray cats that the Department of Health started earlier this October has already paid off. According to data provided by the veterinarian responsible for sterilizing the
animals, Verónica Català, a total of 22 felines have been intervened, among them 15 females and 7 males.

"Since the females are the breeders, this data represents a good campaign", said Català, who has shelled the capture areas. Of the total of the 22 cats, seven have been captured in the Cumbre del Sol urbanization, where there is a large feline colony, six in La Venta, three in the La Font game, three in the L'Abiar game and three in the Mercat square.

All of them, after being operated and after the recovery time, have been returned, with the help of the volunteers, to their place of origin.

This campaign has been possible thanks to a grant of 1.657,39 euros from the Diputación de Alicante. “With this action we have taken a small step to end the problems generated by the colonies, in which animals suffer from hunger, disease and live in unhealthy situations. We hope to continue working in this line with new investments and, above all, with the invaluable help of the volunteers and the veterinarian, who have done an excellent job ”, said the councilor of the area, Isa Garrido.
