The new Triana Bridge reopens to traffic

August 07 from 2020 - 16: 28

One of the great demands of the residents of Xàbia and especially of Duanes de la Mar, has already come true. The mouth of the Gorgos river already has a new bridge.

The well-known Triana Bridge has been opened, this morning, to road traffic and pedestrian access after the reconstruction works have been completed. A new infrastructure that provides a new image to the connection between the seaside neighborhood and the first Montañar.

This work, which has involved an investment of just over 480.000 euros, has a complete renovation, since the previous bridge was demolished and a totally new one has been built, with a single eye, with wider sidewalks, three meters long, compared to the 1 meter ones, being part of them made of iroco wood, stainless steel railing, with a design that allows views, illuminated with LEDs at night and above all, accessible to people with reduced mobility, "and handmade", commented the responsible architect, Francisco Valiente, who added that "We have tried to give an appearance that visually appears that the bridge is suspended in the air over the mouth."

In turn, the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, has highlighted the importance of this work, and the effort involved in carrying it out, "The bridge had to be closed due to the deficiencies it suffered due to the storms and after the work was awarded to a company, it did not start the work, so the start was delayed again and the work was put out to tender again, on this occasion, to the company VILOR SL, which has been the one who has executed the construction ".

Finally, today Friday, August 7, after 12 noon, the mayor, José Chulvi, signed the reception of the work and the construction company removed the seals and the last elements of protection. This procedure brought an end to a project that has suffered numerous vicissitudes.

The first citizens who have crossed the bridge after removing the seal were happy with the completion and completion of the work. And it is that despite the fact that no official inauguration had been scheduled, dozens of neighbors have gathered next to the new bridge to witness the commissioning of this infrastructure, very important for urban mobility and that improves both safety and the aesthetics of the first line of the coast.

The connection between the bridge and Avenida Marina Española has also been redeveloped. Now only one additional work is pending: the removal of the base of the old bridge - already planned, with a ready budget allocation and in the contracting phase.

I think that both demands can be solved not by doing the sloppy greenway now, but by taking a good walk in the chiringuitos area, with trees, benches, as our neighboring cities have.

Today is a great day for Javea and in particular for the residents of the port only clouded by the refusal of the mayor and other councilors of not wanting to recover the dual circulation Puerto Arenal, something that the vast majority of residents of Javea as well as national residents are demanding. as foreigners.

    • Xavi says:

Dual traffic condemns pedestrians to continue living with the tyranny of the car. You have to do just the opposite, leave a service lane and access to residents and completely pedestrianize what should have been a walk by the sea for decades.

This is what other cities have done and Jávea has to take advantage of all its scenic potential that gives it a bonus to enjoy quality tourism.

      Hello,
You are wrong Xabiero, what you have to do is pedestrianize the entire mountain. It's nice to see it without parked cars, that before you couldn't see the sea, and people enjoying the beach, and forget about the tyranny of cars. The streets for the people! I hope they are decided by the city council.
      Greetings.

        Fully agree for pedestrians only

Politicians are there to make life easy for people not to look good with them and in this case that is what they have done, I explain the Genoa street that is parallel to the first mountain is not finished it lacks the exit to the port for The supposed bridge that exits next to the Civil Guard barracks and the other entrance that faces the parador is not finished either, that is, a mousetrap, the Via Augusta is a mess, the first thing would have been to finish the Genoa street and then make a bypass these streets and then if you could do what they have done.
Things are done to improve not to look good.
