Next October 7 at 20:00 p.m. in the Plaza de la Constitución the musical Balansiyyà will take place. A free show that will play the melodies that 80 musicians from the Grup Polifònic Ars Nova and the Center Artístic Musical de Xàbia will perform for the occasion.
The representatives of the Grup Polifònic and the Center Artístic Musical de Xàbia presented the event this Tuesday to the mayor, Rosa Cardona, and the Councilor for Culture, Mavi Pérez, which they have prepared with care, given that it is part of the 30th anniversary events of this choir from Xàbia.
The musical, explained the choir director, Rubén Penadés, is a composition by José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana from 2010, which tells a story set in the time of Jaume I and that mixes music and "staging." For this reason, five characters will participate in the interpretation: Azahara (Lucía Candela), Alfons (Moisés Requena), King Jaume I (Javier Pérez), King Omar (Vicent Pérez) and the writer and journalist Josep Vicent Miralles will act as narrator.
For his part, Gonzalo de la Guía, has pointed out that the musical "is conceived from the beginning for a band" and that has facilitated the preparation work, with a "very novel staging." The director of the band and director of the assembly has stressed that "this has never been done in Xàbia."
For its part, the Councilor for Culture and Education, Mavi Pérez, has highlighted the joint work of the Grup Polifònic Ars Nova and the Center Artístic Musical de Xàbia in this "ambitious and innovative" project that allows "bringing our culture a little closer every day, as it tells a love story set in medieval Valencia.
The councilor wanted to congratulate the two cultural entities and their members "for the enthusiasm and great effort" they have dedicated to making it a reality on October 7. In an event that is part of the cultural programming prepared by the Town hall on the occasion of the Valencian Community Day.
