The 'Red Eyes' Festival will feature this year the novelty of a portfolio viewing

On September 17th, the third edition of the 'Ojos Rojos' International Photography Festival begins. This year, among the great novelties that it presents, it will be Mexico, the guest country and the one that focuses the attention of this festival.

The exhibitions, workshops, talks and the rest of the activities contemplated will take place, this 2021, in Xàbia and Dénia, between September 17 and October 17. Both the exhibition halls and the public open-air spaces will be the setting to host the works of the great photographers who are exhibiting in the third edition.

The International Festival 'Ojos Rojos' is organized by the Urban Arteria Cultural Association, curated by Mili Sánchez and Mike Steel and also has the support of the Consortium of Museums, the Culture Councils of Dénia and Xábia and the Consulate of Mexico in Spain.

Exhibitions

The new start of the Ojos Rojos Festival will feature a total of 12 exhibitions between the towns of Dénia and Xàbia. Among the authors that will exhibit in Xàbia, the works of the photographer, Bernard Plossu, one of the most important professionals in the history of contemporary photography, stand out, who will contribute his personal collection to the exhibition. There will also be Xavier Mollà, the Mexican photographer José Luis Cuevas, Lucía Morate, Ire Lenes, Nina Llorens Peters and Isabel San Ruperto n

In Dénia you can visit the works of the Mexican photographer Dulce Pinzón, the new work of Jerónimo Álvarez, the work of Alejandro Cartagena and the works of the great street photographer Baylón.

In the presentation, the director of the Consorci de Museus, José Luis Pérez Pont, highlighted that "the works of the participating photographers in Ojos Rojos bring us closer to different realities, inviting us to reflect through photography as a universal language."

For his part, the Councilor for Culture of Xàbia, Quico Moragues, has highlighted the strength of the Red Eyes Festival "to be able to fulfill its third edition after having passed, last year, the worst of the pandemic and to continue afloat with the photographic quality that characterizes them." Moragues has also thanked the Xàbia Photographic Association (AFX) for the support it gives to the festival.

Festival activities

In this third edition, the festival has a variety of scheduled activities such as talks given and the novelty of a portfolio viewing, open to anyone regardless of their nationality, profession, or age, where names such as Eduardo D´Acosta, Marisa Giménez Soler, Lucía Morate, or Lluis Romero will meet, from where one of the next participants of the fourth edition of the Festival. This event will be on October 2nd.

The Festival also includes a Roundtable under the title: "The intervened photography", which will feature the presentation of "Library of souls" by Nina Llorens, and which will give way to presentations by Eduardo D'Acosta, Nina Llorens, Marisa Giménez, Mili Sánchez and Alejandro Cartagena, who will participate remotely from Mexico ”, added the curator.

Also, the Jayan cinema will screen, on October 10, the documentary, “El Instante Eterno”, which will premiere at the same time in Spain by director Sebastián Moreno. For this screening, the Festival organization has had the collaboration of the company Amjasa.

Finally, and as usual, the Festival once again has the close collaboration of the Jávea Photographic Association (AFX), which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary of the Photographic Rally that will be held on October 15, 16 and 17.
