The Army, through its Terrestrial Component Command (MOE), within the scope of Operation Balmis, deploys troops in the town of Xàbia to reinforce street surveillance and to comply with the decree of the State of Alarm with in order to fight the spread of the virus.
The deployment of the Special Operations Command that collaborates with the rest of the State Security Forces and Bodies, Institutional Organizations and Public Administrations, is the first time that it comes to Xàbia. This work joins, as we have commented, that of the Local Police, which in coordination with the Civil Guard, has reinforced the controls at the entrance entrances to the municipality to stop the arrival of tourists who bypass the restrictions of the State of Alarm and move to their second homes.
These joint devices have been in operation since yesterday Thursday afternoon at all entrances to the population: Gata de Gorgos, Jesús Pobre or La Xara and from Dénia.
Likewise, the military of the Special Operations Command (MOE) will be in charge of monitoring any possible breaches of the Alert State measures, especially those related to mobility. They will be in various parts of the municipality, including the Arenal promenade.
The Unit will act with the objective of recognizing the most conflictive areas, critical infrastructures and establishing a solid and effective link with local authorities and the Security Forces and Bodies to facilitate their tasks of presence and vigilance in the event of possible breaches of the measures established by the State of Alert in areas of special risk for contagion.
