The short of the robot-actress created by the students of Benitatxell arrives at the University of Alicante

May 31 from 2019 - 14: 15

The students of the CEIP Santa María Magdalena de Benitatxell have vindicated egalitarian and respectful social relations through an ingenious short film in which appears, as one more actress, a humanoid robot that the same students learned to program first.

The short film was screened for the first time last 24 of May in the Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante with 24 short films more than other educational centers of Secondary and Primary of the province of Alicante. During the same day, the Air Fair for the construction of drones was held and the MOMO initiative was developed consisting of a short film that combines digital electronics, the Stop Motion technique and 3D printing.

History of the short

Qui sóc?, the short film presented by the students of the Santa María Magdalena CEIP, tells the story of how Leira, a very beloved student and a born leader in her school, is injured playing soccer and has to miss class for three months. Taking his place comes Ariel, a humanoid robot that everyone despises. Ariel ends up leaving when Leira recovers. But upon arrival, it is very sad. The rest of the students discover that both were the same person and that, one they adored and the other, they despised her. Leira gives you a very important choice: Treat others as you would like them to treat you.

Schoolchildren of the Santa María Magdalena CEIP learned how to program a robot and to program their movements and dialogues for the short film. The project also entailed an important artistic work, given that the original idea, the script, characters and sets of the three short films were created by the students themselves.

An interesting initiative of El Caleidoscopio, Start up of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche supported by the Department of Education, by Jorge Pascual.
