The Consell offers the municipalities help to prepare contingency plans and beach rescue

May 25 from 2020 - 18: 02

The Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, met this Monday with the mayors of: Xàbia, Gandia, Dénia, Sagunt, Benidorm, Cullera, Benicàssim, Orpesa, Altea, Santa Pola, Guardamar del Segura, Orihuela, Alboraia, Peñíscola and Sueca to offer them the Consell's help to prepare the contingency and rescue plans that local corporations must have for the safe use of the beaches.

Bravo has explained to the first councilors of these coastal towns the content of the draft decree to safeguard security and improve coordination of emergencies and civil protection on the beaches of the Valencian Community, which approved last Friday the plenary session of the Consell for processing through the emergency route.

The minister has detailed that with this standard "they have a legal tool that allows the actions of all administrations to converge within the framework of civil protection security so that citizens know that the Generalitat works in coordination with its municipalities to make our beaches as safe as possible "

It has also pointed out that this regulatory framework "improves capacities to manage and coordinate any emergency in the field of civil protection and citizen security".

Bravo has reminded the mayors and mayors that each town hall a specific contingency plan must be drawn up to guarantee security measures for the duration of the threat of COVID-19. To do this, they will have the guidelines contained in the guide prepared by the Autonomous Secretariat of Tourism, in which technical personnel from all over the Generalitat have participated, and the indications included in the order of the Ministry of Health of May 23.

Once each plan is approved in its respective municipal plenary session, they will be sent to the Ministry of Justice within a period of fifteen days. "We all agree on the need to offer safety on the beaches and it is about giving guarantees to citizens in this health emergency situation"Bravo recalled.

In this sense, the Minister of Justice and Interior has ensured that the Generalitat wants to provide the maximum collaboration in all the necessary actions for the coordination of safety on the beaches, respecting municipal autonomy and has provided "All the help so that the municipalities that require it can count on the advice of the technicians of the Security and Emergency Agency for the preparation of the Contingency Plans."

Bravo has also conveyed to the mayors that the new regulation also contemplates that, within six months, the councils will have to have a Salvage and Safety Plan for the beaches that due to their dangerous conditions or greater influx of public so require.

This protocol must be registered in the Registry of Self-Protection Plans of the Generalitat. Thus, in case of emergency situations, the characteristics of these locations will be available and will serve to facilitate the necessary actions.
