El Club Escacs Xàbia With his team "A", was second in the XXV Regional Championship of Team Chess that was held in the House of Culture from Calpe. In this edition, a total of eight formations belonging to the municipalities of Benissa, Xàbia, Dénia and Calp took part.
The winning team was Benissa "A" who revalidated the title won in the previous edition. The champion formation was composed by the players: Francisco Rubio, Roland Huylebroeck, Daniel Cavero and Antoni Bertomeu.
The second place went to the Xàbia “A” team. The third place went to Marina Alta Dénia, being fourth the Xàbia "B" team, which they followed in order of classification: Calp "A", Benissa "B", Xàbia "C" and Calp "B".
The games were of a great level and there were moments of nerves, tension and, above all, a lot of sportiness. The losers congratulated their opponents at the end of each game.
The trophy was chaired by the president of the Chess Club Calp, Miguel Ángel García Yepes, the president of Benissa, Antoni Bertomeu and Antonio Bisquert, president of the Club Escacs Xàbia.
