Clarinetist Juanlu Puelles will join ESMAR students for a concert at the Conservatori de Xàbia

Juanlu Puelles will offer a concert with students from the Higher School of High Performance Music (ESMAR) at the Conservatori Professional de Música de Xàbia on Friday the 24th at 11:00. The clarinetist, one of the most notable Spanish musicians due to his extensive training and international experience, will address works by Leonard Bernstein, Manuel de Falla, Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, Carl Maria von Weber and Johannes Brahms, among others.

The performance, which will feature Pablo Báidez as accompanying pianist and various clarinetists, will include the pieces Sonata by Leonard Bernstein with Mercedes Aras; Two pieces from Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla with Celia Martínez; 3 Pieces for Clarinet Solo, K033 by Igor Stravinsky with Vicent Bono. Adriana Catalá will perform the Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Copland, the Gran Duo Concertante by Carl Maria von Weber and the Sequenza IXa for clarinet solo by Luciano Berio; and Laia Maresma will tackle Vier Stücke opus 5 by Alban Berg; Trio opus 114 in A minor by Johannes Brahms, with Carla Calvo (cello) and Ana Rashkova (piano); Bucolique by Eugène Bozza and 3 Pieces for clarinet solo by Igor Stravinsky.

The recital of students from the Juanlu Puelles Clarinet Classroom is organized by the Conservatori Professional de Música de Xàbia, ESMAR and the Javea Town Hall. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

Puelles has played in orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Les Dissonances. In 2014 he won the position of Macao Orchestra, recently classified by international critics as one of the best orchestras in Asia. During this period he collaborated with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Malaysian Philharmonic and received a scholarship from the Japanese festival Music Masters Course under the direction of Alan Gilbert.

USA, China and Spain

The ESMAR professor has been invited as a teacher in the United States, China and Spain and is the artistic director of the International Clarinetasia Comxicotetion and founder, together with Vicente Alberola, of the Music Masters Course Valencia (MMCV).

The clarinetist has won different national comxicotetions, as well as the opposition to the Badajoz Municipal Band at the age of 20, a position he left to carry out his official studies in Musikene and in Germany with the clarinetists of Sergio Celibidache's Munich Philharmonic: Martin Spangenberg and Ralph Manno.

Member of young orchestras in Germany (Jungenordeutsche Philharmonie and Bayreuth Festival), he completed his orchestral studies at the Teatro Real in Madrid for three years. He has received master classes from relevant musicians such as Lorenzo Iosco, Bruno Martinez, Juan Manuel Lumbreras, Asier Polo, Sabine Meyer or Martin Fröst.

Apart from his musical training, he has dedicated himself to researching how to improve the health of the musician throughout his career. He obtained training for three years in Barcelona with Malen Cicerol in the Diafreo body method. He has received classes in Asian methods of postural retraining with different teachers, Sensorial Awareness training with Enric Bruguera and Alexander Technique classes with Montse López and Anne Lauda and Yoga with Ritesh Kumar among others.
