The 'Circuit a Peu Marina Alta', a pioneer in environmental sustainability

January 27 from 2020 - 00: 30

The Jauja hall of the Maritime Station Baleària Port was the scene of the presentation of the XIV Circuit a Peu Marina Alta, a series of 12 popular races that are organized in several localities of the region and that as a great novelty will be sustainable with the environment.

In the act, directed by Jovi Lozano, president of the Cultural Commonwealth of the Marina Alta (MACMA), chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat Valenciana, Mireia Mollá, and with the presence of Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt and other mayors and mayors of the organizing villages, stressed the importance of eliminating single-use plastics that are usually present in each sporting event. This is the objective of the organization of the Circuit to this 2020.

Therefore, with the collaboration of the Fundació Baleària, all the supplies of each of the races will be more sustainable: the usual plastic containers are exchanged for others that will be water containers made with cardboard and glasses made with 100% corn fiber biodegradable Also, the bags delivered will also be paper.

The new president of Circuit, Juan Zaragozí, was discovering other novelties that will have the 2020 edition, as there will be a unique shirt. Instead of a gift shirt per race, it goes to a better quality, thus avoiding reducing their production by 15.000 units.

Another great novelty comes in the supplies, will be offered pieces of fruit and food typical of each of the organizing populations instead of industrial pastries.

Different videos were broadcast during the event: one of presentation of the Circuit a Peu to the Marina, one of the most runners in the Valencian Community and two others on the new bottles and glasses plastic free.

The Fundació Baleària will be in charge of organizing exhibitions in various municipalities with a clear environmental focus. In addition, taking advantage of its Culture Culture program, the entity will show works made from recycled plastics and organize children's workshops on recycling and, in collaboration with the Oceanographic Foundation, a release of turtles will be held in the Xàbia beaches.
