The Health Center of Xàbia has been distinguished as the best teaching center in the province of Alicante by the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit of Family and Community Medicine, under the Ministry of Health. The award was collected this week at the College of Physicians of the Alicante capital, the Director of the basic area of Xàbia, Dr. María José Mulet; next to the head of the teaching center Dr. Isabel Herrero; the Head of Studies of the Department of Health of Dénia - DSD-, Ma Carmen Estruch; and the tutors of Family and Community Medicine -MFyC- Luis Uceda, Angel Cabrera, Ma Ángeles Manzanero and Clara Eloísa Martínez.
The Health Center of Xàbia is accredited, from 1993, as a center for the training of Resident Internal Doctors (MIR) in Family and Community Medicine. In the basic area there are 7 tutors who also have the support of the rest of the center's staff: nurses, pediatricians, mental health professionals and social workers.
The health center xabiero trains residents in different disciplines such as: Prevention and Health Promotion, Clinical Medicine, medical-surgical specialties, Mental Health, Maternal-Child Care or Care for the Elderly and the Chronic Patient.
The basic area of Xàbia has also signed collaboration agreements with different universities and training centers to welcome undergraduate students in Medicine, Nursing, Social Work and Midwifery. Also to MIR of other specialties, such as Internal Medicine, who perform their rotations in Primary Care.
