'The Osasuna Case': sentencing Xavi Torres and disabling him from two years of professional football

According to the judgment of the Provincial Court of Navarra published for the alleged match-fixing of football matches during the 2013/2014 season, known as the 'Case of Osasuna', which involved the Xàbia footballer, Xavi Torres, dictates a sentence of one year in prison, two years of disqualification for the exercise of professional football activity and a fine of 900.000 euros.

It should be remembered that, in Spain, for penalties of less than two years, one does not enter prison but has a criminal record.

In the 'Case Osasuna', other soccer players have been sentenced for sports corruption, since according to the investigation, several soccer players charged for trying to beat Valladolid and lose against Osasuna in the aforementioned season, in which Xavi Torres was active in Betis.
