The Xàbia City Council cancels, this year, the 25th edition of the 9 d'October awards

17 July 2020 - 15: 58

El Javea Town Hall has decided not to call the 9 d'October Vila de Xàbia awards this year. Given the health situation in the country and in accordance with the prevention and contingency measures of COVID-19, the City Council prefers to leave this year blank and postpone until 2021 the next edition of these local awards to people or entities that distinguish themselves for their contribution to society.

Mayor, José Chulvi, explained that being awarded the 9 d'October is a moment of joy and pride, that anyone deserves to be able to celebrate and share with their family and friends. For this reason, and in anticipation that this year's institutional act would be highly conditioned by health security measures, it has been decided to postpone until 2021 what will be a very special edition: the 25th anniversary of these awards.

In addition, taking advantage of this break, the executive proposes to make a change in the regulations of these awards so that the recognitions are not so limited (currently they are to Solidarity and Civic Values) and thus people who stand out in other equally important fields can be recognized for society.

The decision to postpone the 25th edition of the 9 d'October Awards has been communicated today to municipal spokespersons at a meeting held early in the morning that discussed various issues of municipal management.
