At noon today Friday, the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, has held a coordination meeting with those responsible for the Local Police and the Councilors for Citizen Security, Pepa Gisbert, and Services, Kika Mata, to evaluate the meteorological alerts issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and that will affect Xàbia from this Sunday.
The AEMET and the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat have informed the red level warning for coastal phenomena, due to a strong maritime storm that will hit our coast since Sunday afternoon.
Faced with this alert, the Javea Town Hall determines to reinforce the containment dam that protects the Arenal Beach and will leave the necessary elements ready to, if necessary, cut off traffic and pedestrian access to the port breakwater, the Marina Española promenade and the roads closest to the sea such as the first Montañar, where it is recommended not to park any vehicle from Sunday.
Also, this maritime storm is associated with strong gusts of wind so it is advisable to shops and catering establishments of the promenades to remove furniture such as tables, chairs or umbrellas and protect the large windows.
During the weekend, the Municipal Coordination Center (CECOPAL) will be attentive to updates from the official bodies of both this red alert and the other warnings activated in the province due to rain and wind (yellow level) or snowfall (with level of about 500 meters so that initially we would be out of risk) to take the necessary preventive or response measures.
