The City Council of Xàbia studies the appropriate measures to celebrate 'the market'

28 2020 April - 08: 40

Since the State of Alarm began, the street market on Thursdays in Xàbia has also ceased to be held. In fact, on its last day, March 12, when the spread of the pandemic was already known, the influx of public was less. Now, after about two months without being held, the Generalitat authorizes that they can be installed from next April 30 but only for the sale of basic necessities (food).

In the case of Xàbia, both the mayor responsible for this area, Marta Bañuls and the mayor, José Chulvi, they explained to the opposition, before the question in the telematic plenary session on this question that they are studying what measures to carry out so that its celebration is safe in this situation of health crisis.

And it is that, once the conditions of opening of these markets by the Generalitat have been regulated, it is now up to the City Councils to decide whether or not to hold them. Xàbia has indicated that everything is ready, perhaps on May 7 it could be reopened.

It should be noted that from the Generalitat they marked the need for there to be a delimitation with fences or any other means to limit spaces and avoid crowds, as well as to consider another series of complementary measures based on social distancing and hygienic measures.
