The City Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell buys a half-finished farm to turn it into a municipal building

January 15 from 2019 - 14: 10

The government team of Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell has signed this same Tuesday the earnest money contract for the acquisition of a half-finished farm that will become, after its rehabilitation, a new municipal space.

It is a structure located at the entrance of the municipality from Xàbia, whose abandonment represents the apogee of the urban crisis that was experienced years ago. The building has four floors and 800 square meters, and is valued at 458.000 euros. After the negotiations, the City Council has achieved it for 228.000 euros.

According to the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, "The town hall has remained small and the purchase of the adjacent house does not replace the deficiencies of space. It is not about patching with a string of small premises but thinking differently, in large and in future with an emblematic and iconic building which, in addition, will radically change the urban aesthetic of the entrance of our municipality ".

The next step is to entrust an architectural firm with the rehabilitation project of the estate, which will combine traditional and modern architecture. The goal is for this new building to put an end to the dispersion of municipal premises that currently exists. At the moment it has been announced that the ground floor will house the tourist office. Of course, the current City Council will maintain its institutional function and attention to the citizen. There will continue the mayor's office, the plenary hall, the entry register, citizen attention and political offices.
