Given the demands made, yesterday Monday, by the Association of merchants and businessmen of Xàbia Port, the municipal government has shown its willingness to work to meet the demands of the collective, thus following the municipal collaboration policy with all the initiatives that boost socially and commercially the neighborhood.
The executive has said that he has been in constant contact with the association for years, both from the Department of Commerce and Duanes and from Services, so many of his proposals are already on the municipal agenda.
Asphalting parking and leisure activities
On the asphalting of the parking lot of the Crown, from the consistory they have indicated that they already have budget allocation since the last modification of budget credits was approved on February 28, "There is a reserve of 260.000 euros for the asphalting, lighting and installation of charging points for electric cars on this site."
The local government has remembered that, in the last legislature, it made all the efforts to be able to write this land and turn it into a space for public parking, assuming the demands of commerce.
Regarding the request for cultural programming, from the Town hall have indicated that "In recent years, the City Council has included the neighborhood in the cultural programming circuit: they have a program that includes storytelling, exhibitions, a series of monologues, concerts and festivals. In fact, since Department of Culture they have been proposed to host the Music concerts at l'Estiu without, for the moment, the association having suggested a location that meets the conditions for these chamber concerts ".
The government team has explained that in tourism, "Concrete actions have been promoted in the port, such as the Pescaturisme project or the different marine routes in coordination with the Oceanogràfic Foundation. And the Department of Economic Development has also decentralized its training calendar, bringing conferences and networking meetings to Duanes' spaces" .
Works and improvements
Regarding works and improvement of urban spaces, from the City Council they have made mention of the current reform of the Triana bridge and the sidewalks of Avenida dels Furs, thus continuing with urban improvement investments as it was done with Avenida Lepanto or Jaume I or the modernization of street lighting throughout the neighborhood.
Regarding the access ramp to Cristo del Mar, "As they have been explained, it is not a work as simple as they want to see, but it affects the water network and must have a length that exceeds the pedestrian zone so that it meets the minimum safety measures and does not have a slope too pronounced. In this sense, an integral reform of Cristo del Mar is being considered to solve this problem of accessibility ".
In the renovation of bins and container islands, "as well as the reinforcement of the cleaning of urban spaces, they are foreseen in the specifications of the new contract of the garbage, currently in the bidding phase, and that is expected from a solvent and well-sized service to the entire municipal area".
Trenet and rotation parking
In the application of the free rotating parking system (with cardboard clocks), from the government team they indicate that it was launched, "finding a strong social opposition between the neighbors and in the commerce itself, becoming the local points in Xàbia Port the collection points of signatures against the measure".
As to tourist trenet, "make it clear that Duanes is part of the route that will be launched soon, once the service has been tendered and awarded, the routes cannot be modified, and that for the first time it will connect the three urban centers."
The response of the City Council also refers to the municipal collaboration with Xàbia Port, "The collaboration agreement has increased by up to 7.000 euros in the last three years and now reaches 20.000 euros of public contribution so that the association can take its own revitalization actions, totally to your liking".
On the repair necessary to reopen the exhibition space of the Casa del Cable, municipal sources have reported that it has already been awarded and will begin in days. Also, about the new municipal premises, "At no time have they been offered the premises located in Cristo del Mar to which they refer, among other things, because it does not meet the habitability conditions and needs an important reform", indicates the government team.
The Port, priority
For the executive, as indicated, "The port is a priority as it has been demonstrated in the response capacity after the Gloria storm. The promenade of La Grava and the pedestrian of the Spanish Marina were the first to be fully recovered. Work has been done on the beach, cleaning the two large spillways of
rainwater and the set-up - leveling and screening of the Gravel - is planned for Easter as every year (since it is always expected at dates close to this first tourist campaign to avoid a new storm that undoes work) " .
From the executive they have reached out to the association to continue improving and have reminded them that, as up to now, they have the doors open to all the councils and the mayor's office to discuss any of their initiatives or suggestions. Also that they have the tourist office or the Duanes library for their internal meetings, as always when they have requested them.
Mayor, José Chulvi, wanted to highlight that Duanes is today “A place of reference, with a lot of essence and where you are comfortable, something that can be checked by anyone who is going for a walk, doing sports, enjoying the sea, the hospitality industry or doing their shopping”, and added that Xàbia "It is a municipality that, by size, cannot have tripled all municipal services, and that each neighborhood has to take advantage of its peculiarities and strengths".
