Two podiums for Pablo Ivars in the Spanish Cycling Championship

06 June 2022 - 12: 25

Last weekend the xabienc cyclist Pablo Ivars Soler, belonging to the team Cala Bandida Cycling Team, participated in the Spanish Cycling Championship having managed to get on the podium in the two tests that were carried out both in Individual Time Trial and Online.

On Saturday, the CRI time trial was held in the Marina Real de Valencia, the venue where the European Triathlon Championship was also held in 2021 and recognized for its fast circuit that runs through the Marina area and part of the circuit of F1. The xabienc got the second place behind the Catalan Sergi Jurado while the third position went to the Madrilenian Marco Antonio Álvarez.

On Sunday, the Route test took place in the town of Torrent and its surroundings, where the high temperatures stood out, reaching 41º, being decisive for Pablo to achieve third position fighting in the sprint together with another cyclist from Madrid. In the first position, Sergi Jurado from Lleida repeated as the winner, while the second position went to the Murcian Antonio Marín.

"A magnificent weekend"

Pablo commented that "it has been a magnificent weekend and with more than excellent results, getting on the podium in both tests, on Saturday I really enjoyed the ITT, which was the test that best suited me, while yesterday Sunday in the road test I suffered a lot due to the heat and high humidity, but very happy with the final result after fighting for bronze in a sprint where the weather conditions throughout the race wore us out a lot as cyclists, so, seeing the situation I saved myself to attack in the final meters, achieving the objective".

With this, the cyclist from Cala Bandida ends his first block of comxicotetions, standing out for his title of Runner-up of Spain in the CRI modality after he could not finish the same test in the Deaflympics Games that were held last May in Brazil. “I had the thorn in my side of the Olympics for not being able to finish the CRI, a test that I prepared a lot for months and that due to a puncture where vehicle assistance was not allowed I had no choice but to withdraw. With the results of this weekend I have felt glorious and with the confidence to continue competing after the long work done so far. I want to thank my coach Adrián Peris who after many years working side by side we continue to reap success and my family for encouraging me to continue in this beautiful sport".
