The Provincial Council of Alicante has subsidized with 2.850 euros the acquisition of a tatami of karate, by the council of sports of the Town hall El Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

This equipment has been acquired with a subsidy granted by the Provincial Council within the concessions for the acquisition of equipment and sports equipment to municipalities with a population lower than the 5000 inhabitants.

The tatami, of 100 square meters, will be destined for its use by the students of the Municipal School of karate, rhythmic gymnastics and yoga.

The tatami puzzle system is completely reversible and is approved by the World Karate Federation. Manufactured in closed cell polyethylene of monodensity, it is fire resistant, non-slip, waterproof, antibacterial, hypoallergenic and easy to clean. Its surface simulates the traditional style tatami rice straw Japanese.

With the new equipment, the sports schools continue to establish themselves as one of the most referents in the region. To the new padel courts, artificial turf on the football field and official equipment for all students of the Sports Schools is now added this tatami for the practice of martial arts.

The mayor of Sports, Manolo Segarra, has stated that "we are a reference of sports facilities in full performance. Last year we reached an unprecedented historical figure with 570 number plates adding those of adults and children. Almost all the families of the municipality benefit from quality facilities and a level teaching staff. There are students who practice more than one sport in our schools, which shows that we are able to retain".
