A criminal group specialized in the theft of mobiles with violence and intimidation is arrested in the Marina Alta

The Civil Guard has arrested five people in Dénia for being the alleged perpetrators of numerous robberies with violence and intimidation committed in mobile phone shops, in different provinces of the Spanish geography. The criminal group is credited with stealing more than a hundred next-generation mobile phones, valued at more than 100.000 euros.

The operation began a couple of weeks ago, when the Civil Guard of Calpe learned of several robberies in mobile phone stores, in that town and in Benissa. After analyzing the various complaints presented by the injured parties, it was observed that the way they acted was always the same.

Modus Operandi

The organized group of young people violently broke into a telephone shop, screaming in an exaggerated and intimidating way to the employees there, which caused them a state of anxiety and paralysis, which prevented them from reacting.

Meanwhile and, in a matter of seconds, the authors abruptly pulled out several mobile phones from those exposed to the public, which were anchored to the furniture, with a security cable. Once they seized the terminals, they ran away, leaving the place, in less than a minute.

The agents of the Investigation Area of ​​the Civil Guard of Calpe began an incessant series of efforts, aimed at finding out the facts, quickly finding the identification and location of the alleged perpetrators, who were staying in an apartment in Dénia, where they hid themselves after committing robberies, by the different Spanish provinces.

In this last month of December alone, the group is credited with the theft of at least eight telephone stores, located in five different provinces (in the towns of Calpe, Benissa, Gandia, Quart de Poblet, Sagunto, Alcalá de Henares , Lorca and Picassent).

The robbery committed in this last Valencian town of Picassent, was collected by the media, nationwide, on December 16.

The agents were able to verify the criminal voracity of the group since, on the same day, the investigators came to commit three robberies in three different stores in the province; the first in the morning, the second in the early afternoon and the third in the late afternoon, coinciding with the closing of one of the stores.

Detention

The arrest of the perpetrators rushed to learn that they intended to leave Dénia's apartment to move to another province of the Levantine coast, in order to continue committing crime.

It was precisely at that moment, in which the five members of the group were preparing to leave with their luggage from the house, located on the Road of Las Marinas de Dénia, when they were intercepted by the Civil Guard, being arrested.

A dozen mobile phones and more than 4.000 euros in cash were found in the search of their luggage, presumably from the sale, on the black market, of the stolen phones. It is estimated that, in total, the criminal group has been able to steal more than a hundred high-end and next-generation mobile phones, valued at more than 100.000 euros.

The five detainees, four men and a woman between 18 and 28 years of age, of Romanian nationality, have already been made available to the Judicial Authority, the Court of Instruction No. 1 of those of Dénia, who has decreed freedom with charges of all of them, pending trial, being subject to the precautionary withdrawal of the passport and the obligation to appear in the Court on the 1st and 15th of each month.
