The crime of homicide with a knife happened in Xàbia on the eve of last Christmas. The victim was an elderly man, who surprised an employee who was trying to rob him at his home. The employee in question attacked the man causing his death.
On December 21, 2021, the body of a 96-year-old man was located at his home in Jávea with obvious signs of violence. It was the family that found the lifeless body and immediately notified the agents. The Homicide Team of the Alicante Civil Guard began the investigation to locate the person responsible for the murder, which had been committed the day before the discovery.
The agents carried out a thorough ocular inspection at the scene of the crime. However, a tedious investigation lay ahead of them. They reconstructed and studied step by step the hours before death, with the help of the statements provided by all the people who last saw the victim alive.
Four months of investigations finally put the Civil Guard on the track of the person in charge of maintaining the old man's swimming pool, who had worked for him for five years. As a result of the reconstruction carried out, the agents suspect that that fateful December 20, the alleged perpetrator, aware that given the proximity of the Christmas holidays the victim could have cash at home, went to the home with the intention of robbing him. While he was searching the rooms, he was surprised by the old man, which then produced the aggression that ended his life. The author took a laptop as booty and fled the scene.
On April 21, 2022, the alleged perpetrator, a 58-year-old man, was arrested in Benitatxell. He is charged with the crimes of murder with a knife and robbery with violence and intimidation.
The investigation has been carried out by agents of the Homicide Team of the Judicial Police Organic Unit of the Alicante Civil Guard. The detainee has been placed at the disposition of the Investigating Court number 3 of Denia, which has decreed the admission to prison without bail, lifting the summary secret on May 6. At the time of his arrest, he had an arrest warrant in force from his country of origin, for a drug trafficking crime.
