The Department of Sports of Xàbia has recovered the old futsal court located next to the pilot's trinquet for, as soon as the sanitary conditions allow, leave it as a freely available facility for young people or people from the municipality who want to practice sports without being linked with the clubs.
The space, which was in a state of abandonment, has been cleaned, repaired, painted and conditioned with goals and baskets with anti-vandalism systems. A rest area with benches and wastebaskets has also been adapted.
The responsible councilman, Alberto Tur, has explained that this rink will be used occasionally by the Roller Jockey Club but that most of the time it will be completely free to use. For the moment, the track continues with use conditioned by the COVID regulations since it is integrated into the Freginal sports area, which temporarily has the capacity controlled by health security.
In addition to this action, improvement work has also been carried out –especially linked to guaranteeing user safety- on the Freginal multisport court. The pavement has been repainted, the enclosures, the drainage of rainwater and the changing rooms have been improved.
Tur explained that except for the painting -which overall has involved an investment of 20.000 euros- the rest of the work has been carried out with their own means, both by the social brigades that have worked this year in the Town hall as by the sports concierges during the weeks in which, due to the pandemic, sports facilities have been closed.
The alderman and the mayor, José Chulvi, have been able to verify the great change in this area after the fine-tuning work and have shown their satisfaction for adding a new provision for sports.
