El Arxiu Municipal de Xàbia brought together the jury of the first call for the Vila de Xàbia research awards, which agreed to award the award to historian David Gutiérrez Pulido for his project proposal "Xàbia in the life and painting of Joaquín Sorolla".

This research award is endowed with 4.000 euros and a period of one year to write the total work. The jury has been chaired by Miguel Lorente Boyer (patron of the Sorolla Museum and doctor of Fine Arts) and made up of Rosa Seser Perez (president of the Institut d'Estudis Comarcals, Maria Teresa Gay Arenas (School of Mediterranean Painting), Eduardo Bisquert Buigues ( Friends of the Museum) and Juanjo Mas (municipal archivist).
