Cs Xàbia proposes that the management of the Municipal Market be transferred to the sellers

August 05 from 2021 - 12: 37

In the last plenary session of the Javea Town Hall held last July, the spokesperson for Cs Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, has proposed to the municipal government that it seeks the legal reserve to cede the management of the Municipal Market to the merchants, which until now has been carried out by the Xàbia City Council.

The mayor has positively valued the modification of the Mercat Regulations, which opens the door to self-management of this historic space by the vendors themselves. A modification approved by the Plenary, in which the mayor has indicated that the approved changes "have fallen short" for a document dating from 2010.

In this sense, he stressed that it is time for "the vendors themselves to manage the
Direct the Market ”, so the City Council“ must find the formula to make this a reality as soon as possible ”.

For Escrivá, “it is not possible that we have positions closed for months in the Mercat”, especially due to the long procedures to put out to tender some stops in which, as the Xabiero councilor has learned, “there are
people interested in being awarded to be able to set up their business ”.

According to the mayor, the direct management of the Mercat, “would allow the merchants themselves to collect and enter the fees and amounts corresponding to the City Council and who can manage the cleaning costs or the most urgent repairs, which currently depending on the City Council end up eternalizing ”.

In the opinion of the xabiero councilor, “we must continue to value the Municipal Mercat de Xàbia, giving facilities to the true protagonists, the sellers and customers of the Mercat, to continue positioning it as one of the locomotives of the local xabiera economy and especially of the historic center ", since as Escrivá has pointed out" a Municipal Market at full capacity and with all the open stalls is, without a doubt, a focus of attraction for the rest of the shops ”.

If the procedures are so complicated, why not change them and make them easy? Do they impede work and social and economic evolution? Well, with that mentality there is no future, it does not surprise me that everything is as it is when it was left and abandoned.

      Ignacio is absolutely right.
In the Nordic countries they have created an administrative simplification service.
      And that works!
It makes life easier for citizens.
