Cs Xàbia presents a battery of questions to clarify the management of the fire in Ramblars after more than five weeks burning

29 December 2021 - 14: 32

As announced by the spokesperson for Cs Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, during the course of the last ordinary plenary session of the Javea Town Hall, the mayor has presented a battery of questions to the municipal government to clarify what actions have been carried out, both the City Council and the company in charge of operating the Ramblars plant since the fire was declared, as well as the prevention measures adopted to avoid the incident .

As Escrivá has pointed out, "the refusal of the local executive to launch a public and participatory investigation, as well as the silence and lack of public explanations, are incompatible with the bad smell, uncertainty and annoyances that the residents of Xàbia have been suffering."

For this reason, -the mayor continued-, “we must know what has been done, not only to prevent and extinguish the fire, but also to know its origin and avoid the environmental repercussions and the health of people that it can cause. a fire of these characteristics, which has been active for almost 40 days ”. In addition, Escrivá has highlighted the need to clarify whether there was any irregularity in the operation of the waste transfer plant prior to this last fire.

In this sense, the councilor xabiero has insisted that the government team cannot excuse itself in the police investigations that may be in progress, since in addition to these, “there are elements to be investigated that are within our reach, that they are of municipal competence, that we xabieros have the right to know and that could have contributed to causing the fire ”, such as any type of breach of the service in sensitive matters such as the maximum limit of tons of stored waste or the type of materials deposited in Ramblars.

For this reason, as Escrivá has pointed out, “we cannot wait practically another 30 days, until the plenary session at the end of January, to attend the next episode of explanations by the government team on Ramblars, taken with a shoehorn through the questions that the councilors of the opposition formulated during the plenary session ”. For this reason, questions such as, "how long will Ramblars continue to burn, what is the roadmap to minimize the repercussions of the fire, the possible toxicity of the smoke derived from combustion or the alternatives to put out a fire that has been going on for more than five weeks, they are first-class explanations of transparency, which all xabieros have the right to know publicly and without an eyedropper ”.

So the mayor has concluded by pointing out that "it cannot be that the residents of Xàbia, Gata and Benitachell, have to cover our noses every time we pass within five kilometers around Ramblars and that after more than a month has elapsed since the beginning of the fire, no explanation of it has been given, nor can we investigate and know the causes and consequences of a sad episode for Xàbia like this one ".

Companion animal identification campaign

On the other hand, the Cs spokesperson recalled that during the last year there has been no progress in animal welfare matters, since, as Escrivá has pointed out, “it has not been prepared nor is it foreseen in the regulatory plan, which passed by this December plenary session, to approve a specific ordinance for the protection, responsible ownership and animal welfare that will serve to take another step to combat animal abuse and raise awareness against incivism ". As well as "we do not know anything about the beaches for dogs or the regulations to constitute an Animal Welfare Table", which serves as a speaker for the sharing and joint work of all the associations that work for animal welfare, and can decide relevant issues, "such as the development of a Feline Plan in collaboration with all associations and people involved in animal welfare, to continue improving the protection and welfare of cat colonies, while thus helping to minimize inconvenience neighbors ”.

In the same way, the mayor has urged the municipal executive to launch a "campaign for the identification of companion animals, with which to have pets registered, through an approved microchip and through DNA obtained through saliva". of the registry that the City Council has of potentially dangerous dogs. A registry, which Escrivá has pointed out, “could be free, especially as a measure to raise awareness and continue to combat abandonment and animal abuse, while it would be very useful in the search in case of loss or theft of pets, as well as to track down and be able to sanction any incivility, thus contributing to a cleaner Xàbia ”.

This is terrorism towards the environment and the health of all. And nothing happens here! Scandalous, criminal and the most shameful political reactions. No major reaction except the typical political blah blah from the opposition. Given the seriousness of the matter, I only see one thing ... they take us for a ride
Let's see if the press can find out and clarify why the damn fire that prevents us from breathing by intoxicating our air is not extinguished.

  4. Angry says:

This is a shame, but come on, no surprise.

When what is at the command of Jávea, what did you expect?

You can not demand anything from those who know NOTHING to do, just spend money and get their good salaries.

Happy new year, and continue voting ...

  5. Pedro Diaz Manjon says:

Because it doesn't go out anymore, there is no water in Xabia, the sea is there, the fire fighting helicopters are there, we have firefighters, who benefits from this fire, I don't understand so much political chatter and nobody does anything, until when.

  6. Ignacio says:

Battery of questions? Why don't they report it now? The questions asked by the judge and the investigation commission for crimes against the environment, public health to begin with, and for fraud and fraud with the non-existent urban waste management service.

  7. July says:

The issue is so serious for people's health that THERE MUST BE CRIMINAL LIABILITY

    • Ignacio says:

Exactly but they are avoiding it. They just wonder and let time pass. They are all guilty, they all know perfectly what is happening and why it is happening.
