The IB ISABEL BILBAO Art Gallery is hosting, until January 26, the Antonio Abellán exhibition entitled 'Choreographies'.

Antonio Abellán (Cartagena 1964) resides in Valencia since 1985 where he graduated in Fine Arts. His career includes artistic research and exhibitions in galleries and art fairs in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, England and especially Spain and Germany.

Son and grandson of photographers, he remembers the studio of his grandfather and father, where he often helped develop images that generally showed diverse people and situations. His childhood and adolescence were spent in a house in the historic center of Cartagena in whose living room he met daily as well as family, friends and visitors "... in a mixture of legs and arms, armchairs, sofas and wicker armchairs - he tells us - which I used to observe as a spectator of a choreography staged just for me ".

His highly personal iconography, technique and concept define Abellán as a rare bird among contemporary creators. The main constructive element falls on the human figure, brimming with expressiveness and interest. He endows his characters with intentionally pictorial characteristics and appearance whose poses and choreographed movements renew and transgress, for example, the studied scenes of the Baroque masters. Produces complex structures using masses of color, dynamic lines and few empty spaces that balances
successfully.

Every two years approximately, since his first exhibition at IB Galería in 1990, Antonio Abellán presents a select but limited collection of paintings, which gives them added value, so that each exhibition is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a set of his paintings. works that are later dispersed among different collections.
