On Friday, January 3, the guided routes started, for the second consecutive year, from the Oceanogràfic Foundation, within the 'Projecte Xàbia'. An activity that aims to raise awareness and promote the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the marine environment to both neighbors and tourists, who delve into the
World and marine culture.

These guided routes are intended for the general public. The itineraries are adapted for all ages and their participation is free, although prior registration is required as there is a maximum number of attendees.

Turtle history and release

The first route will be Roman stories, tuna and adaptations for survival which will take place on January 3 at 10 am from the Parador de Xàbia. This tour will run from Playa del Arenal but also
the Séquia de la Nòria, the coastal landscape, its richness, its biodiversity will be interpreted, and special emphasis will be placed on the knowledge of the historical and cultural values ​​of different eras (Roman fish farm, almadraba, salt flats, rough stone extraction, fishing and leisure among others).

After the visit, the participants will be able to accompany a turtle recovered in the ARCA del Mar of the Fundación Oceanogràfic until the Arenal Beach, where she will be released to celebrate the Three Kings festivity with families.

Fishing and product development

The other scheduled route Stories of fishermen, salted fish and seafood recipes It will be on Sunday, January 26 at 10:20 a.m. at the fishing market. This activity includes a walk through the fishing port to learn about the different fishing modalities in Xàbia and the main species that are caught. The process of preparing canned salted fish in a traditional way, and other forms of canning, will be explained with the help of a professional fisherman and the collaboration of the Fishermen's Association of Xàbia.
