Xàbia maintains, this 2023, its winter contest Jazz to 100. Taking all musical styles into account, the new cultural program includes four top-level concerts during the months of February and March.

Jazz concerts will be at 20:00 p.m. in the House of Culture and the entrance will have a price of 5 euros, which can be purchased in advance at this link. The schedule of performances is:

  • February 3: Quintet Sergio Pereira. It will be the first concert of the Jazz a 100 cycle. An experienced Brazilian guitarist, composer and arranger recognized by the public and critics.
  • February 17: Ales Cesarini - Black Mantra. This Friday afternoon, jazz music will be the protagonist with the performance of Black Mantra led by double bass player Ales Cesarini.
  • 3 March: Empathy, Kontxi Lorente & Latino Blanco Feat Eva Català. This proposal is a very original project that bears the stamp of the renowned Valencian saxophonist Latino Blanco, who joins forces with the Navarra pianist Kontxi Lorente to present "Empatía", a unique duet work between a piano and a baritone sax. The live performance is joined by a young percussion talent, Eva Catalá, who wraps with her personal rhythms the elegance of a repertoire full of original songs and versions of precious standards.
  • 31 March: Joan Soler Trio and Sara Dowling. With this concert, the Department of Culture of Xàbia closes the Jazz a 100 cycle. It does so with Joan Soler, one of the most renowned Spanish jazz guitarists. Soler will offer a personal review of jazz standards, Brazilian music themes and his own compositions. He will be accompanied by excellent musicians such as Dario Di Lecce (double bass) or Quique Ramírez (drums) and by a very special guest: Sara Dowling, one of the best voices in current jazz, internationally recognized and winner of the British Jazz Awards 2019 as best vocalist of Jazz.
