Compromís per Xàbia urges the government to withdraw the toll plan and develop the Gandia-Dénia Train

May 10 from 2021 - 13: 50

Compromís per Xàbia has registered today a motion, which will be debated in the next municipal plenary session, where the State government is urged to withdraw the plan to implement tolls on the roads from 2024. The Valencianists defend that these infrastructures are already “more that paid ”when just 2 years ago since the release of the AP-7 after more than 40 years of tolls.

The motion, which they hope to move forward unanimously, urges the government to withdraw the toll plan, in addition to asking it for a crash plan with funding for the outskirts of the State. In this sense, they urge the government to draft the train project between Denia and Gandía in addition to accelerating investment and execution works for the Mediterranean Corridor, among other investments.

Regarding this issue, the spokesperson for Compromís, Juan Cardona, affirms that “it is not acceptable that they want to charge for infrastructures that are more than paid. It seems to us a joke that it is made under the premise of environmentalism
when we have years of infrastructure deficit, especially because after 40 years we still do not have a Gandia-Dénia line ”.

Cardona added that “the payment on highways and highways will divert the majority of heavy traffic and humble people to conventional roads, which returns pollution to the nuclei and increases mortality. We have a very important challenge with the ecological transition, but we cannot afford it as usual. "

On the other hand, Cardona made reference to the local and regional needs in terms of public transport: “we are also waiting for a transport association to be promoted from the Region, as we agreed to promote, all the Xàbia parties, with the goal of improving bus transportation. We believe that it is relevant enough to dedicate time and effort ”.
