Colin Tofts donates a valuable collection of books and art catalogs to the Xàbia Library

January 20 from 2023 - 10: 32

The local artist Colin Tofts has wanted to share his extensive library with the artists and art lovers of Xàbia by donating it to the Public Library. The donation expands the section of Art already available in the municipal facilities, a material that Colin hopes will be as inspiring as it has been for him.

It is a complete collection of art books and catalogs ranging from Impressionism to Avant-garde and Contemporary Art. Many copies are dedicated to British artists but there are also North American, European and Spanish artists.

Colin has formed his library over many years, the last twenty-one residing in Xàbia with his wife and also an artist, Maggie Morgan. Tofts was born in Oxford and studied Fine Arts, Ceramic Art and Art History. He worked as an Art teacher in Oxford and in London in Secondary Education Centers, and Permanent Adult Education. He also lived and taught Art in Tenerife for around 10 years. Colin has practiced painting and engraving, as well as ceramics. He has exhibited regularly throughout his career and has work in private collections in Xàbia, Great Britain, Europe and also in the United States.
