Chulvi explains to traders of Historical Xàbia the steps taken to revitalize the old town

After the complaints and demands of the Association of Merchants of Historical Xàbia "due to the lack of action from the Town hall", as indicated in the public appearance. He Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, along with several councilmen, met, on Thursday night, with 50 traders from the old town of Xàbia to talk about the problems of the Historic Center.

Chulvi, in the first place, thanked the effort and work carried out by both the current one and the previous presidents of Xàbia Histórica. Before the decalogue of proposals to revitalizer this nucleus of the municipality, presented by the group of merchants, the first mayor pointed out that "There were a number of proposals that can be assumed and others not. As municipal representatives we are aware that it can be done better and what is done has to be done together, it would be impossible for only the merchants, and I as mayor."

Ongoing projects

Mayor Xàbia explained some of the projects that are being worked on in the old town, "since this urban nucleus has potential for many projects". José Chulvi indicated that the parking lot in the Plaza de la Constitución has an average of 12.000 vehicles per month and the tourist office center has an average of 1.200 monthly consultations. In addition, the mayor made mention of the cultural offer, "in cultural programming, every weekend, they are held cultural activities and holidays in this area, which shows that there are people in the historic center ". Another example given by the mayor was the large influx of people who make use of the municipal rooms (Portal del Clot, House of Culture, Museum).

With regard to ongoing projects, the mayor explained that "There is one, from a private company, which involves the construction of a small hotels at the top of Banco Sabadell ". He also spoke about the emblematic work of this legislature, the Theater auditorium, with capacity for 525 people and that will also serve to enhance tourism with congresses outside the summer season.

"I wish I had been in the Central Cinema, there was a project and a grant, but also many doubts. The stage was very small and only 270 seats could be placed and several of them blind and the project cost 1.4 million euros ", explained Chulvi.

About this project, the Councilor for Culture, Quico Moragues, Added that "In the Central Cinema there was no room for the homologated stage to host professional performances, but the subsidy has not been lost and has been used for the urbanization of the 2nd Montañar". The mayor said about the future of cinema that "a project of a cultural space for small representations is being defined". For his part, the president of Historical Xàbia, Juan Planelles said that the cinema has to be rehabilitated for all sectors of the municipality and to host cinema, theater, monologues, etc.
