The center warns that the periods of greatest risk are June, July, September and October. In these months it is convenient to avoid that the dog passes the moments of the day like the dawn and dusk outdoors. In addition, it is also necessary to protect the animal with a collar or repellent pipette. In June and October the ideal is to protect them with leisguard or to apply the vaccines that exist in the market, which have evolved a lot and have fewer adverse effects and are safer for our animal.
Leishmaniasis is a disease transmitted by mosquitoes (Phlebotomus spp.) That is very present in our area, and may acquire a cutaneous or visceral form. Among the symptoms that our pets may suffer are: weight loss, seborrheic dermatitis, "chanco de inoculación" in additive flag, muscular atrophy, lymphadenomegaly, eye problems such as uveitis, polyarthritis, vasculitis, kidney problems, epistaxis (nasal bleeding), etc. .
On the other hand, it is also advisable to check our animal at least once a year, to see your general health and to detect early if you have had contact with the parasite.
