More than 485 people have donated to Caritas de la Parish of the Sea of Jávea 9.865 euros in this month of April, in the little time that has elapsed since an urgent call for solidarity was made towards some vulnerable groups in our town, increased by the situation of the pandemic.
Of these 485 people, more than 61 made individual contributions, some 400 people channeled it through the Jávea Dutch Club which has donated 3500 euros, others through the popular municipal group, 500 euros, the Grupo Mujeres Masones 150 euros and others through the Association Todos Juntos Jávea, 300 euros, which works together with the Servicios Sociales in making life easier for the most vulnerable families.

Faced with this response and generosity, the Caritas team of Nuestra Señora de Loreto feels urgent to give thanks. “We would like to be able to speak personally with those who have made a contribution. To thank them. We would like to show you the joy of how many receive because your generosity makes it possible. Thanks with all my heart to all those who have contributed money this April, as individuals, as families or as entities ”, says Cáritas spokeswoman Elly van der Wel, who encourages her to continue collaborating with Cáritas through the ES43 3058 2606 7027 2000 4740 account.
Intended for food and rent
"It is an aid that goes directly to our neighbors in Jávea in a vulnerable situation", indicates the spokeswoman. Of the money raised, Cáritas has allocated 8000 euros to food vouchers. It has also helped with rents where there are no contracts because the rent is for rooms.
Caritas estimates that in April it has been able to serve some 60 families, about 120 children, thanks to the collaboration of the people and residents of Xàbia. Caritas recalls that these families served are groups that have exhausted the benefits they receive and have been unable to go out to work even in precarious situations. Likewise, it continues helping a group of some thirty families who are regularly awarded scholarships by Cáritas so that children can access school canteens and who now need the money to feed their children at home.
Cáritas hopes that the accompaniment workshops for employment, which are carried out jointly with Cáritas of the Parish of San Bartolomé, can be opened soon, to resume the production of the urban garden and the courses of the sewing workshop. As the situation created by the pandemic normalizes and, always following the guidelines of the authorities, Cáritas hopes to resume the activities of its usual sources of income such as charity concerts, Sunday collections and the monthly market for books and toys.
